Short term
courses of the Directorate of Employment & Training are designed to
address the emerging needs of industry and market, on the one hand, and
work seeker, on the other. The industry requires personnel with skill
areas in tune with the times and the market demands well-trained, self-employed
persons offering unique services. The work seeker needs new skills for
better job and self-employment prospects. Our Short Term Courses, all
of duration less than 6 months, make all this possible in quick time and
at great convenience for the course participant.
Furthering our motto, 'Kaushalam Balam',
or Skill is Strength.
Those in great
demand nowadays - Computer Hardware, Information Technology (IT),
Multimedia,
Communication, Hospitality, among others. Special focus is on the sunrise
ICE (Information Communication Entertainment) sector
which includes IT.
This is in keeping
with the Gujarat Government's thrust on taking IT to the masses. Further,
an IT education empowers the individual like no other. A basic knowledge
of IT is the minimum requirement for most jobs in the both private and public
organisations. The sector also boosts self employment because of an ever-increasing
demand for IT-based services like cybercafes, internet telephony, etc. Last,
but not least, the sector does not have a gender bias, thus contributing
greatly to women upliftment. Till date, about 2 Lakh people, including close
to 50,000 women, have benefited from our IT-centred courses.
The employed,
self-employed, students, housewives, in fact, anyone wishing to acquire
both vital and high-grade IT and other skills at short notice.
| What
Do They Get Out Of It? |
After one or
more of these government-recognised and standardised courses, new job seekers
find employment easier because of their wide acceptability in employing
organisations, the already employed stand a better chance of jumping to
higher level positions and the self-employed can hope of multiplying their
earnings by making commercial use of skills gained.
