Scheme of 150 Kaushalya Vardhan Kendra has been launched on 15th August 2010 among them
FOUR KENDRAS ( 1.TANKARA 2.VINCHHIYA 3.KOTDASANGANI & 4. PANELIMOTI ) of Rajkot District were inaugurated by Hon. C.M. Shri Narendra Modi on 14th August 2010 at Rajkot Hon. Minister Shri Vajubhai Vala Inaugurated TWO Kaushalya Vardhan Kendras (BHESAN & BILKHA) of Junagadh District at Keshod on 15th August 2010

Gujarat is fast becoming the most vibrant state with rapid industrialization and economic growth. Progressive governance, people with good entrepreneurship skills and excellent infrastructure facilities like good road network, uninterrupted electricity supply and good communication systems has made Gujarat one of the favourite destinations for investors. As a consequence over the last three years, there have been huge investments in various sectors including petrochemicals, ports, energy, pharmaceuticals, information technology and other up-coming sectors. 51 Special Economic Zones are coming up at various locations in Gujarat, which will further accelerate economic and industrial growth of the State. The growth of industrial clusters in engineering, textiles, agro and food processing, mineral processing and chemicals have enhanced the employment opportunities in Gujarat. In this background, industrial training is going to play a vital role in providing crucial manpower required for the industries.

The Directorate of Employment & Training, Government of Gujarat has been in the forefront of implementing various skill-building programmes with the aim of helping people get jobs and this, in-turn facilitates industrial development. At present there are 185 ITIs and 41 employment exchanges functioning under this Directorate. More than 5542 people working under the Directorate is imparting training to around 50,540 people per annum and assisting around 1.31 lakh people to get employment through employment exchanges. In view of the volume of work in the Directorate and the introduction of the Centre of Excellence Scheme, it was felt that management systems in the Directorate should be modernized to continuously improve the systems, procedures, processes and management. The Directorate started the exercise in the second half of 2005 to obtain ISO 9001:2000 Certification. In December 2005 the Directorate of Employment & Training became the First Head of Department in Gujarat to obtain this prestigious certification because of the quality improvement in the systems, processes, structures and management of the organization.
